Terms & Conditions: Donations
By making a donation to Stichting Our Rule of Law ("Our Rule of Law"), you agree to the following terms.
1. Parties
This agreement is between you, the donor ("Donor"), and Stichting Our Rule of Law, a Dutch foundation (stichting) with its registered seat in Groningen, the Netherlands (Trade Register no. 91614902; RSIN: 865712888). Our Rule of Law holds algemeen nut beogende instelling (ANBI) status.
2. Donation Amount and Frequency
You may support Our Rule of Law in one of two ways:
One-off donation. You make a single payment of an amount of your choosing. No further obligations arise on either side once the payment has been received.
Periodic donation. You agree to donate a fixed amount in euros on a recurring basis — either weekly, monthly, quaterly or annually — for a term of your choosing. We authorise donations for an indefinite amount. Your first donation will be collected on the start date confirmed at the time of signing.
3. Payment Authorization
This section applies to periodic donations only.
By completing a periodic donation agreement, you authorize Our Rule of Law to automatically deduct the agreed donation amount from your designated bank account (IBAN) at each recurring interval. You may update your bank account details through your account or by contacting us at about[at]ourruleoflaw.eu.
4. Duration and Cancellation
This section applies to periodic donations only.
This agreement remains in force for the indefinite term. You may cancel your donation at any time through your user account or by contacting us at about[at]ourruleoflaw.eu.
5. Early Termination
This section applies to periodic donations only.
This agreement terminates automatically upon the occurrence of any of the following events:
The death of the Donor;
The death of both the Donor and their registered partner (where applicable);
The Donor, or their registered partner, permanently loses employment or the ability to work;
Our Rule of Law loses its ANBI status.
6. Record-Keeping
Our Rule of Law will provide written confirmation of each donation upon request. You can request one by contacting us at about[at]ourruleoflaw.eu
7. Governing Law
Donation agreements are governed by Dutch law.
Qualifying for tax deductible donations
Because Our Rule of Law holds ANBI status, your donation may be partially or fully deductible for Dutch income tax purposes.
One-off donations. The deduction is subject to a threshold and a maximum. You may deduct the amount you donate above the threshold, up to a maximum of 10% of your threshold income. The threshold is 1% of your threshold income, with a minimum of €60. If you file your tax return online, your threshold amount will be shown automatically on the donations screen.
Periodic donations. There is no threshold for periodic donations. To qualify, you commit to donating a fixed amount annually for a minimum of five years, recorded in a written agreement with Our Rule of Law. The full donated amount is deductible, up to a maximum of €250,000 per year.
